THE START OF THE ROAD
We devised a possible start of our solo which derives from the structures first few sentances, in my case its this:
'Late one evening in 1925, Charlie is summoned to Squizzy Taylor's house, where he is pressured to use the wood yard as a front for Squizzy's illegal activities. A wiser but wary Charlie outlines the virtues of going straight to Squizzy.'
Things to consider:
Where does you character begin?
Outside of Squizzy's house.
What is there general mood?
Eerie, nervous energy.
What is their purpose for being there?
To tell Squizzy that he doesn't want to be a part of Squizzy's illegal activities and that Squizzy should 'go straight' instead of breaking bad.
How did they get there?
Charlie ran from his house.
Who are they seeing?
Squizzy Taylor and probably Dolly.
Do they have anything important with them?
Probably not, maybe something that will convince Squizzy.
I just created a short scene using slight elements of biomechanics to create a scene of Charlie running to Squizzy's, him knocking on the door, Dolly answering and then fetching Squizzy.
Challenges and changes:
- accents
- biomechanics theatre
- I want it to be more detailed and interesting
For tomorrow:
- take an obstacle course while going to squizzy's
- meet a gang along the way
- use a different and interesting door
Ideas:
- obstacle course
fence, duck underground, stick to the wall, trip over, stop abruptly
- gang
Barlow and his mates stealing the footy
- different and interesting door
probably an old fashioned knocker as it was in the 1920's
