'RESEARCH CURRENCY'

I got a little test on the knowledge of my character today and I did pretty well but I was left with one thing to research which is the currency in Melbourne, 1919 and I gave myself another task which is look at how Charlie's father died. I know that it was because of a cold but I'm not sure the exact deatils so I've looked into those two things now.

CURRENCY:

- The pound (symbol £, or A£ when distinguished from other currencies called the pound) was the currency of Australia from 1910 until 14 February 1966, when it was replaced by the Australian dollar. It was subdivided into 20 shillings (symbol s), each of 12 pence (symbol d).

FATHER'S DEATH

- it was the spanish flu which was really deadly influenza during that time
